Beginning January 1, 2008, House Bill 24 became law (N.C. Gen. Stat. 130A-491), banning smoking inside all state government buildings and allowing N.C. local governments to do the same, if they choose. (Please note the NC Smoking in Public Places statute contains a local government preemption section, 143-601(b), which is still in effect.)
Resources are posted below to assist state government buildings in their efforts to comply with the law.
Smoke-Free Workplace signs for state government buildings are provided below in PDF format and have been approved for use in NC state buildings. Download, print and post the size you need.
